All of my coworkers feel this way but I disagree. My personal opinion is that I should be able to trust my teammates to not screw around like this; if I didn’t, I am not sure how much I’d want to actually work with them. I leave my computer unlocked at home for the same reason: I trust my wife not to abuse that.
Now, of course, if I was in a cafe and had to leave my laptop on the table while I used the bathroom, I’d be damn sure to lock it. Actually, I don’t know if I’d leave it out like that at all unless somebody I trusted was around to keep an eye on it! Physical security is more reliable than digital security in practice.

The best way to protect yourself from coworkers who do this sort of thing is to work somewhere else.
