I don’t find it appropriate to tell people to delete system files (Mac install). A brew install of emacs should be sufficient as long as the path is in the right order.
I’m not sure macOS even comes with emacs anymore? I use mg in the terminal and Emacs for graphical editing and I’m preeeetty sure I had to install both.
