I just learned about this organization dedicated to developing secure, FOSS, mobile software, and thought it was worth sharing.
Their most famous app is probably Orbot, a Tor client for Android. I’m also interested in ChatSecure, a GPLv3 app which allows encrypted XMPP communication.
Apparently they have partnered with F-Droid and CopperheadOS:
In March 2016, Freitas announced a partnership with F-Droid and CopperheadOS with the goal of creating “a solution that can be verifiably trusted from the operating system, through the network and network services, all the way up to the app stores and apps themselves”.
Good that ChadSki brought this up. Has anyone here with secure coding or protocol experience looked at their stuff in detail? I’m curious what its quality is. I screwed around with Orbot as a demonstrator to lay people. Usability was good with the browser. Gotta wonder about actual security, though.
I searched around and found this: https://chatsecure.org/blog/chatsecure-security-audit/
