Reminded me of FOAF: http://www.foaf-project.org
Now that takes me back…
I remember being so excited about FOAF when I learned about it around 2005. Those were the heady days of blogs and RSS feeds and open APIs.
Fun fact: GitHub once had a humans.txt that was generated from staff users’ profiles.
humans.txt
Does anyone know why they stopped?
Privacy concerns. Not all staff wanted to broadcast the fact that they worked for a particular company. It also got a bit unwieldy as our numbers have grown.
Here’s their humans.txt: http://humanstxt.org/humans.txt
I found out about this when a ruby gem auto generated one and thought it was pretty neat. Will be adding them to all my websites from now on.
