But what does it do??? I understand that they have a bespoke CA card, but how is it that it only works in this laptop? Other laptops from that era have CA slots. For that matter, what is the source of these special laptops if not eBay? How do they know they’re getting the right LTE 5280 model?

Sadly this story is about as informative as “mclaren cleans their engine valves with organic orange juice, you’ll never guess why” and then not telling us why.

It attaches to the docking connector.

At what point does it make sense cost-wise to pay someone to design a usb adapter for this connector. Seems like an untenable solution long term to keep sourcing these laptops.

        Apparently right now:

He added: “We are currently working on an new interface which will be compatible with modern laptops as they old Compaqs are getting less and less reliable and harder to find.”

That’s some Long Term Evolution, for sure! ;)

I think the real story is that someone paid $13 million for a car that was worth $1 million only 20 years ago. I know they were the fastest car at the time and even now they are pretty phenomenal. They are also a childhood favourite of mine and if I were rich I would own one. But that is some insane appreciation. The houses in the best suburbs of my city have only appreciated about 10x in that time.

F1s really are something special. Oddly, when they came out I wasn’t too impressed - “ho hum, another super expensive supercar”, but I’ve changed my opinion a lot since then.

I’ve driven past the factory in Woking on many occasions and seen my fair share of other models, but sadly never an F1.
