or watch on media.ccc.de if you prefer to not watch on youtube
I would also recommend getting a invidio.us redirect script going so you can avoid youtube all together.
Wasn’t invidious discontinued in September?
The invidio.us instance was shutdown, not the project itself. I think the reason was that it was too much effort to run such a big instance.
If you go to invidio.us, you can get a list of active instances.
Me and @thequux were some of the presenters on this one if you have any questions.
Do you have any good English sources of info/software for BTron? Otherwise, cool showcase for these systems even though I’d have preferred a more structured look at what we actually lost instead of a demo of 3 systems with some bullet points.
Looking forward to this one, will watch later!
That is possibly the nerdiest talk I have ever seen. I loved it. :-D Thank you to all the presenters!
It is interesting that there’s a considerable degree of overlap with my own talk at FOSDEM back in 2018… Lisp machines, Genera, Smalltalk, single-level store and IBM i, and more…
This stuff is fantastic. Does anybody know of any resources to learn more about this history, that is, the history of all the different flavors of operating systems before everything coalesced behind unix and ms-dos? Any books/articles/additional talks would be wonderful to dive into.
I want a capability-aware OS, but I’m not sure if I can afford the changes to my workflow. Still, it’s worth working towards.
