We generally don’t do product news, company news, advertising–and when we do do release news, we use the release tag.
Remember, a metric that’s hard to go wrong with: post things that are of direct use to a practicing developer. Such a heuristic usually means you won’t post stuff like “so-and-so has joined/left/besmirched the thus-and-such team”, because few people work their and fewer still have any impact on hiring/firing/PR.
Alright, fair enough. I considered this one a fairly major piece of news, since it effectively unblocks the Neo900 project. But I’ll be more careful in the future :)

Even major news is still only news, the value of which derives from novelty and not substance. :)
