    I think a real problem with TVPN ads specifically is that the majority of people promoting them aren’t domain experts, or even really tech specialists, so their core understanding is limited. As this paper says this can lead to false or misleading claims about what a VPN can actually do.

    Depressingly I have seen a bunch of tech folk on YouTube promoting them as well, though some “tech” channels do demonstrate only a very high level/hand wavey understanding of what they are covering.

      I agree it’s really cringy when people who should know better are happy to take the money…
