Except for within-a-locked-rack-cage, networks are impractical to secure, so don’t try: treat your network as just another part of the Internet, and then you can work from anywhere on the Internet, you can move services between hosting providers with hardly any friction, and you’re much more secure against attacks from insiders.
So many people take laptops home and work on foreign networks that its something every company needs to address, especially when employees have administrative logins.
