<subjective_rant> Call me old-fashioned, but I really think that new Metro widgets are ugly as hell. It’s not that I dislike changes; I actually liked ‘new’ start menu in Windows 8, it’s just about the look of those widgets – it simply feels like a step back. Those two color, primitive regions look like Unix XAW or Motif apps. And I get it – high contrast has its advantages, big regions so that big fingers won’t have problems with tapping them, primitive looks so that casual user won’t have a problem with understanding the purpose of the widget, but… did I mention that I think they’re ugly as hell?
