      note that the virus does not infect windows XP

      I thought WannaCry affected all versions of Windows? Microsoft even released a patch for XP.

        The quote from this article is:

        Windows XP was ‘insignificant,’ researchers say

        So not quite “does not infect windows xp” but the penetration there seemed to be minimal.
