I’ve noticed this a lot as well. The people most likely to cite DK are the worst perpetrators. As in:
Senior Java Developer: I spend a lot of time tracking down memory leaks.
DK guy: Ha, you’re incompetent. Everybody knows Java is garbage collected. Senior developer, my ass! Dunning-Kruger strikes again!
Senior Java Developer: …
People who write large apps in language X know more about the pitfalls of language X than the people who have heard about language X. It’s the Dunning-Kruger-Wikipedia effect: Everybody who’s read a wikipedia article thinks they’re an expert.
