Several months ago, I read a story on Lobste.rs about a simple alternative paradigm to MPI. The title of the story is something like “here is a superior alternative to MPI, but it’s dead now”. The paradigm involves some kind of blocking queue where threads/processes/workers can put a message to the queue and read from it. I find it very intuitive and would like to learn more about it, but I cannot find it anymore despite multiple Google search and site search attempts. Can you guys remind me of which story it is?

That sounds slightly like tuple spaces ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_(coordination_language) ).

Exactly! That’s it. Thanks for the pointer!

This is the story I was talking about: https://lobste.rs/s/lvbxci/tuple_spaces_good_ideas_don_t_always_win
