I’m a graphics dummy - how are shadows handled nowadays? I tried to get more context from the Wiki article on shadow volumes but nothing really stood out to me as an explanation for where this falls short.
Shadow maps (for rasterized/realtime graphics) have overtaken shadow volumes in most cases. There’s a decent summary of why here.
