Bitcoin was never designed to be fully anonymous, it’s only pseudonymous. De-anonymising it was never intended to be a challenge so while this article shows some interesting techniques it’s not like there’s anything surprising here.

The more interesting challenge would be to de-anonymise newer cryptocurrency technologies which are specifically designed to protect privacy such as zerocash or Mimblewimble.
