Reading the original thread (which I’ve done before, but not recently), makes for quite amusing reading in places:

Simply, I’d say that porting is impossible. It’s mostly in C, but most people wouldn’t call what I write C.

I do have to wonder how things would’ve turned out if the USL vs BSDi lawsuit had never happened… The Linux kernel is a perfect case of “right thing, right time”.
