Only five minutes in but this video seems just brilliant.
I’m not a functional programming person but her arguments seem pretty cool.
The basic spreadsheet interface has always seemed really cool to me and I thought that adding VBA onto was just tragic - it would be so much better to extend spreadsheets through devices more consistent with this basic interface. One that occurs to me now would that you have a selection that was a lazy list and let other cells determine the size of this.
The spreadsheet interface also seems like something that would be much better to extend to “real programming” than would something horrid like Matlab.
I kinda think the best way to handle a spreadsheet for programming is instead of an Excel like syntax, a simplified Lisp - more concise, consistent, and powerful.
