This is obviously a screenshot of KDE. I can’t say whether this blog is trolling or just ill-informed.

It’s tagged here as “satire”. There are some joke articles on the site, though also some more serious articles,

Thanks. I missed the tag, clearly.

Satire and Linux, so I hoped the joke was clear enough. Although, windows 11 light theme could pass for kde in a short glance. Lunduke has good stuff, sometimes serious, sometimes historical, but sometimes also phoronix level clickbait.

The shiny new “Dolphin” file manager was a dead give-away, tag or no :)

This is a bit of a throwback to 90ies/00ies Linux advocacy (fits right next to the ‘Windows is like a microwave dinner, Linux like a deliciously cooked meal’). While mildly funny, the world is probably better served by making the Linux desktop really good than cheap shots at the competition.

Linux-tinged hatred of Microsoft is a meme in the original sense - I’m surprised seeing nerds a generation younger than me essentially repeating the same tropes people I knew did in the late 90s. “Halloween Documents”, EEE, you name it. Never mind that Microsoft (though it may still be evil) has reinvented itself almost entirely since that time, and in my inexperienced eyes it doesn’t look like Linux on the desktop has made any appreciable progress…[1]

Lunduke is around 30 and seems to be making a good living trading in these tropes so there’s obviously a market for it among his audience.

[1] I use Linux daily, but in a 80x24 terminal like God intended.

This looks like Gnome 3 to me

              It’s KDE.

It says something that Windows 11 UX is enough of a regression that it’s believable that WIndows 12 is the same as KDE.

I guess this is based on the fact that Windows 11 looks pretty much like the Plasma Desktop. This is not a bad thing, I very rapidly became to like it more than the Windows 10 look after upgrading.
