This made me laugh. Definitely security by obscurity.
I am withholding the walk through on how to do this until after the conference out of respect for RSA.
Really? Respect for the same RSA that puts the cast of CSI on the keynote panel for a security conference? http://www.computerworld.com/article/3033199/cybercrime-hacking/the-csi-effect-comes-to-rsa-conference.html
I read it more as: “there’s people running a conference here and I don’t want them to be bothered to much by witty tech folk that copy a joke”.
If it were my conference, I’d probably let the first person in like that for the discovery and refuse everyone else access :)
It’s like when people spray paint Monsanto HQ. The guy who gets to scrub the graffiti off with a bucket of bleach isn’t the CEO.
Maybe the CEO sees it on his drive to work and spills his $10 coffee all over his SIXTY THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR PANTS </Gob>
I agree though, it’s dumb.
He’s still not going the clean the pants. :)
Respect for the same RSA that accepted a 10e6 USD bribe to backdoor their crypto?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA_Security#Alleged_NSA_Dual_EC_DRBG_backdoor
Is this security by obscurity and reverse engineering or is it just some guy with the right equipment making another card? Heck my centenarian building manager with crinkled hands can do that…
