TrueOS was previously called PC-BSD.
I’m not a big fan of runlevels (sysV init), so as a current FreeBSD user, this is not appealing to me at all.
I would like to see improvements in FreeBSD’s rc system though, maybe using daemontools/runit or something similar to make daemonization and service monitoring easier/better.
For a server running FreeBSD I’m not a fan of sysV or OpenRC. I like the simplicity of daemontools/runit as well (services basically just need to be running all the time anyways. I run TrueOS on my laptop and the bootup times being so much slower is much nicer than the sysV stuff. I have a feeling getting all the desktop applications to work under a daemontools/runit model would be more challenging.
