ffs, without javascript enabled there’s a 100% blank/white page that ‘loads’. No text, nothing.

    1. 4

Even with javascript enabled, it’s the same 100% blank page unless you allow scripts from 3rd party domains to load.

That is dumb, there is nothing dynamic in here! Just plain HTML and 10 CSS declarations would do it.

Now try disabling JavaScript in the OS web views and enjoy your fresh blank-screen OS!

world wide web is great, wish it were a thing in 2019

For some reason they wrote their web page in markdown and translate it into html through Javascript. I suppose a static site generator would be cheaper in terms of total cpu.

Wow the jailbreak/exploit is pretty bad.

Remote command execution from web pages with (navigator.kaiosExtension || navigator.engmodeExtension).startUniversalCommand(shell_cmd_here)

So the path to OS freedom on a given platform is to find a weakness somehow and get through.

Web modern applications offer a huge attack surface. I guess not enough eyeballs on that platform’s code to fix them all…

Sure. There are dozens of terrible security bugs in Gecko48.

I’m just surprised this device leaves the front door so wide open.

the maintainer is pretty vigilant on consistently finding workarounds against various patches from kai #tolegittoquit

Been using GerdaOS for 9 months or so. Highly recommend experimenting, fascinating devices supported. I have a couple of 8110’s at this point and it really makes you feel like a badass using it full time. If your in it for security - protip: bluetooth off.

                I really want a CAT B35 now.

Aren’t you concerned about all the unpatched Firefox vulns?

                  1. 1

                    yep

I was about to go 8110 as well, but the lack of qwerty keyboard stopped me. Terminal sessions on a T9 are possible?

Since it appears that you don’t mind a low powered device so long as it is rugged and hackable, allow me to introduce you to the NEC Terrain (2013, discontinued). (The linked page is just some collection of links about it that I posted back when I was trying to get a 3rd party OS to run on it.)
