    A knee-jerk reaction out of half-hearted privacy concerns. With a driver in kernel mode and a hardware with direct RAM access the computer can be considered ‘compromised’ anyway.

      Doesn’t windows require driver signing these days (which doesn’t solve everything, but creates at least some accountability)? And modern hardware tends to come with an IOMMU that controls hardware’s access to RAM, no?
