Love to see companies not only funding research, but doing so publicly with the intent of bettering an entire ecosystem! Sets a good example for folks about the value of learning and exploration of various types. What other companies regularly engage in such activities?
I think this is great. There is such a great ecosystem around ruby and ruby on rails, and I like the approach of not trying to invent something new to replace it, but just improve the thing you already have and works for you. I do not do web development for work, but I have always toyed around with different frameworks/languages, but nothing ever stuck. Recently I’ve been thinking maybe I should just dive into rails as my web framework of choice since it seems so productive.
