    A few questions I had.

    Switching hard drive manufacturers from Hitachi to Seagate and Western Digital. The assumption here is that all drives are the same and as we’ve learned that’s not really the case.

    Did I miss the link to further discussion of this? It sounds like they have some serious manufacturer vs manufacturer data, but I didn’t see anything else mentioned.

    A lot of the post focused on hard drive farming. I would have loved to see a graph showing cumulative costs/savings. From my understanding, the farming was actually short lived, but this post gives it most of the credit. How much would have been spent if they had simply adopted the multi vendor strategy? It’s hard to tell from the graphs what’s going on, but the discontinuation of farming doesn’t appear to have much effect. There is a spike, but that comes later from the move to 4GB drives.
