I’ve been thinking a little about the implications of this. I don’t think we’re at the point where my phone will really replace my desktop, but maybe a tablet could. My ipad with an external keyboard is already pretty productive, minus some iOS limitations.
If apple released a MacBook Air tablet convertible whatnot, what os would it run? iOS? OS X? Dual boot?
Microsoft may be in a better position. They’ve got work to do, and it’s a long upward climb for them to get tablet dominance, but they have the os they need. And their current design language (I don’t even know what that phrase means) seems more scalable.
Or perhaps apples strategy is to continue selling two devices to everybody. Certainly profitable if it works.
