Hi Lobste.rs community,

I’m hiring for a position over at Wallaroo Labs. If you’ve been interested by our blog posts about our distributed stream processor and thought “that’s something I’d like to work on”, well, awesome and here’s your chance.

I’ve had a bit of a hard time coming up with a title. Here’s the basic gist. We’re looking for someone whose primary “concern” will be the lifecycle that a Wallaroo customer goes through. This runs the gamut of:

  • installation of Wallaroo for local development
  • package and deployment of Wallaroo applications for release
  • running/monitoring et al of Wallaroo applications in production environments
  • upgrading Wallaroo applications

There’s a variety of work that goes into that. There’s going to be a lot of writing documentation for our users. There’s going to be a lot of investigation of what best practices for running Wallaroo in production look like. You’ll end up talking to a lot of customers so that you learn their problems and pain first hand.

You definitely should have “owned” or other “run” applications in production before. For any position we are happy to train folks up but we also have a few personality characteristics and bits of past experience we are looking to “buy” by hiring someone. In this case:

  • Experience running production applications
  • Experience running applicaitons in a cloud environment

If this hybrid role seems interesting to you, feel free to send me a private message here and we can do an informal chat and it seems like something you want to persue, we can start the interview process.

Our team is distributed so remote is fine. We have folks from GMT-8 to GMT+1. We don’t particularly care where you are as long as you are apply to work effectively with everyone and overlap with most of the team at least 2 to 3 hours a day. We schedule all company meetings between 11 am to 1 pm US Eastern so being available during those times is a must.

Are you going to be reviewing the applications yourself? I’m going to be sending mine in this weekend. I’ll be sure to add in the Lobsters posting.
