Nice build. I’ve built a couple rack-mount servers recently, and with with an off-the-shelf 2U case. The cooling for the processor is a bit of a trick if there is any significant CPU load. The nominal options are a low-profile heatsink and fan that leave enough room for the fan to breath, or a horizontal fan and heatsink that typically runs at a high speed (with corresponding high noise level).
I was tempted to use QVO drives for a home NAS but I just couldn’t find data if the performance falloff issues were actually as drastic in day-to-day use as they seemed from benchmarks. I eventually gave up and went a different route.
