Hmm. Despite the author’s assertion that philosophy has become barren, this reads much more like philosophy than science. Compare “all is computation” with the Pythagorean “all is number,” or Plato’s belief that everything derives from the forms.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s wrong, or should stop doing philosophy. But I’m always a little bemused when scientists write philosophy without realizing it.
“Everything is X” has been applied to every X that’s come along. Also we continually suffer from the reification fallacy.
