A minor correction. Ivan Sutherland’s Sketchpad (1963) wasn’t the first interactive program. There were many interactive games written in the 1950’s. The earliest software-based interactive game seems to have been Nim in 1951 running on a Ferranti Nimrod. This had simple turn-based interaction. By 1962, Spacewar! became the first real-time multi-player video game, running on the same computer as Sketchpad.
