A minor correction. Ivan Sutherland’s Sketchpad (1963) wasn’t the first interactive program. There were many interactive games written in the 1950’s. The earliest software-based interactive game seems to have been Nim in 1951 running on a Ferranti Nimrod. This had simple turn-based interaction. By 1962, Spacewar! became the first real-time multi-player video game, running on the same computer as Sketchpad.

Hey, thanks for the correction! I’ll double check it and update.

The distinction between structured and unstructured reactive systems is quite useful; thanks.
