I’m getting a little worn out, but I really do like the idea of a cool down period on policy changes. One can hope the discussion will be more civil if people don’t feel they’re racing against some deadline to make their point most emphatically. “Oh, shit, time is running out. Better shout louder!”
This is worth reading, thinking about, and discussing in full, regardless of whether a reader ends up completely in favor or not. The care and attention put into this should not be dismissed without some of that same effort.
I’m very happy that there is a term coined for XYism, though it took me a few passes to figure out what they meant.
Also, the explicit acknowledgement of emotional assault as both unverifiable and incomparable does raise some philosophical questions, which are perhaps worth exploring (civilly!) in their own right.
