Not right now, but hopefully in a couple of weeks (compiler / toolchain people)!

      1. 3

I’m probably not qualified for what you’re doing, but what would be expected?

        1. 3

We have an LLVM fork (clang, lld, LLVM back end, lldb bits still to do) for CHERIoT that needs updating to upstream trunk, upstreaming, and maintaining. We also want to evolve some of the C/C++ extensions. There are also some folks working on Rust that probably need some help driving the CHERI bits into Rust and adding the CHERIoT-specific bits (at a basic level, adding attributes to get Rust to parity with C, but longer term there’s a lot in the Rust type system that we should be able to enforce across security boundaries and reduce the need for custom annotations or explicit operations).

          1. 2

Interesting! CHERI is an interesting project, what would the compensation (in rough numbers) be like (DM if you don’t want it to be public)? Again, I’m probably not qualified, but this is something I find personally interesting and could pursue if I the numbers work out.

            1. 3

Thanks. I don’t want to share compensation numbers until the CEO and CFO have signed off on them (complicated somewhat by the fact that we are open to hiring with a fairly wide range of experience, which makes the spread fairly large. If we can get two experienced LLVM people that would be great, but I’d also be interested in one experienced person and a motivated inexperienced person). We’re a startup, so a big chunk of the compensation will be shares, which may be worthless if we do the traditional startup thing (though hopefully won’t be), which complicates things somewhat.

              1. 2

                motivated inexperienced person

I’m interested, is there a way to subscribe to updates about this?

                1. 3

If you send me a message here, I’ll make sure I reply when we have the job ad up.

                  1. 1

Hey is there an update on this?

                    1. 2

We have been very slow setting up the process. I’ll let you know when the lob is listed. Sorry, it was slower than I expected.

                      1. 1

Yeah no problem, I was just wondering if you had the posting up already and forgot to update it here.

        2. 1

Very interesting! Will it be onsite only?

          1. 2

No, we’re full remote. UK is easy, USA or Canada fairly easy, elsewhere may be possible but I’d have to check with the CFO.

        3. 4

          Hi!

          Company: UpCloud

          Company site: https://upcloud.com

Position(s): A few Kubernetes Engineer roles at https://upcloud.com/careers

Location: REMOTE (EU) or ONSITE Helsinki, Finland

Description: These are for the Managed Kubernetes product that UpCloud offers, so you’ll expect to work with, well, Kubernetes, Cluster API and similar tech! I’ve been with the company for a year and a half now, and I’d say the folks are really nice to work with. “Nordic” work-life-balance is a real thing and the perks are great! Happy to answer any questions. :)

Tech stack: Kubernetes, Cluster API, Go, Prometheus/Vector, and possibly React/TypeScript for the full-stack leaning role.

Compensation: Can’t really comment on salary unfortunately, but I’d guess somewhere in the EUR 60-90k ish ball-park? 5 weeks of paid vacation, yearly offsites (both for your team and the company, and fully compensated travel to Helsinki if you’re remote).
