Do we know who buys these machines, other than small numbers of hobbyists? Do they sell a lot to security-paranoid companies or governments? Or developers for IBM Power servers who just need binary compatibility?
Well, I’ve got three myself. I’m a hobbyist and I suspect most of the community are also hobbyists. However, I know some IBM folks who use them and I think Raptor has obliquely implied they’ve had some large corporate-esque buyers in the past.
It seems IBM itself resells Raptor machines — maybe ironically, loaded up with Nvidia GPUs and closed source IBM software. I would guess they sell more through that channel than to open source enthusiasts, but who knows.
