So I have no clue how film festivals work, but reading this text I’m wondering why this isn’t flat out illegal.
If I understand this right the way this works is that you pay a fee to submit your movie to a festival. So you’re basically paying them to watch and evaluate it. If they simply don’t do that - how’s that not considered a criminal scam?

I’m sure they would argue you pay them to “consider viewing it and maybe we’ll view it later”.
