Free idea: an organization that gets sponsorship from companies that use some specific OSS project, then uses the sponsorship funds to create jobs for the project. Example: say Tesla, Google, and Microsoft rely heavily on OpenCV; they all contribute $30k/year to create a job for someone to work on the codebase full time, independently. Companies get an invoice for accounting, the codebase gets a fulltime developer, and the developer gets a job with a high degree of ownership over the codebase. Win-win-win?
