I don’t follow the BSD scene, is there any intention in the FreeBSD team to evaluate the changes that the HardenedBSD team has made and merge them upstream?
I don’t feel like FreeBSD’s core is taking enough efforts security-wise as of lately (maybe they’re just full of other stuff to do? ie. bhyve etc).
Stuff like ASLR is nowadays in every major OS, even Solaris…
The HardenedBSD team is actively working on upstreaming their ASLR patch to FreeBSD. There has been a lot of great feedback from the FreeBSD side and it seems like the patch is almost ready to be accepted.
