I am not sure what is the point of this post. Is it supposed to be informative? (If it is I expect some harsh feedback). A learning exercise? (if it is, it’d be nice to know what was the goal to provide constructive feedback) Something else?
I took it as a post-modern commentary on the state of web development, and the harmonious march towards complication. It serves to juxtapose simplistically defined “utility” vs. a “production grade” rat’s nest of an application, complete with 100s of dependencies, and a multi-node database solution (be it RDBMS, or a NoSQL style).
In other words, the author wanted to share a little hack that they thought of, and the submitter thought it was fun enough to share.

This is missing the URL shortening part. It’s more like a concise URL redirector.
