This is wonderful, and I am glad this CTO is actualizing his beliefs. I wonder whether the fund will only support FOSS projects the company uses directly; I could not find out from the article. Perhaps it is a requirement that would be a very strong positive indicator but not a necessary one. Maybe I’ll send in an application for funding the TLA+ Foundation!
Thanks for your kind words. To clarify, this fund is designed to support all types of FOSS projects, regardless of whether we directly use them at Zerodha. While we’ve financially contributed to projects we use in the past, FLOSS/fund aims to be an open directory for all FOSS projects seeking funding. The funding.json specification is intentionally generic, allowing it to be easily adopted by other projects and integrations.
