      Oh, it means serialization as in serializing potentially-parallel actions, not as in turning arbitrary data into bytes and back. Elixir is pretty good at that too; it’s a big part of the secret sauce for both its metaprogramming and the Distributed Erlang cluster protocol.

      But yeah, to me the real secret it’s trying to talk about is disallowing shared state.
