I recognize these titles and covers. I was never able to get these particular books as a kid, in part because Usborne’s distribution in the US was spotty. I had many of their other titles but these ones sounded so much more exciting.
When I was a kid, I had a bunch of these, and I used to pore over them repeatedly. I didn’t get much practical use out of them, though: being written for the British market, all the examples were for Commodore 64s and Sinclair Spectrums, and I had the much-less-graphically-capable Apple II, so pretty much nothing beyond number-guessing-games could be easily ported.
