    A file for this purpose should become standard in git, not something you have to configure per cloned repo. Just like .gitignore: a .gitrevignore and .gitmessage (names optimized for tab completion) should be supported automatically.

      One of the potential dangers of this is that renames can introduce regressions or bugs too in some cases, which can be missed if they’re silently ignored by default.

      That’s spectacularly useful. Does it work for any of the common git web frontends? (github, gitlab, sourcehut, gittea, etc.?)

      I think that’s the place I’d most like to have it.
