In my opinion, this is as big as CPython getting rid of the GIL. This was a Herculean effort, and I’m looking forward to starting to use OCaml 5.0.
I like the plan that the 4.14 will receive more support until all tier-1 architectures are supported by OCaml 5. This helps you feel like you can come up with a plan for upgrading. Hopefully their cautious approach will help avoid the circumstances that drug out the python 2/3 transition.
Sounds interesting. Might want to try the language again.
