My most reliable tech in an emergency like storm knocking out power has always been a plain ole’ landline. Their voice quality is more consistent, too. Worst case, they’re also a backup form of Internet access. Although I virtually never use them, I still think they’re worth paying for when I need them.
I’d probably say something similar about leased lines if they came down to broadband prices or just over.
