The (unsurprising) finding that:

[Harassers] who were sanctioned by a high-status white male significantly reduced their use of a racist slur

is a reminder of the social obligation that those of us with privilege have to the marginalized on- and off-line.

The paper asserts the harassers are white males in the abstract (most probably are), but I don’t know how they can identify race via twitter so confidently.
