Oh, that’s a fun ruleset! I remember playing with a million rules variations of TTT as a kid, but I never saw this one.
I wonder what the strategy is like.
Considerably more involved than regular TTT, to say the least. It’s the perfect thing to throw up on a whiteboard during breaks or before/after meetings, I’ve found.
I used a permanent marker on a white board in the coffee room to make a board…
So far I haven’t got any strategy beyond breadth first search and laying traps for the opponent. My score so far….. One one, lost one.
The rules seem a little hackey (not elegant) to me. I’m most bothered by the ‘bug’ that a big-square in this recursive tic-tac-toe game can be a draw.
I find this rules elegant. Creating a draw is more fun
