    Company: Aurora Innovation

    Company site: https://aurora.tech

Positions: A ton, check out https://aurora.tech/careers

Location: On-site in various places (Pittsburgh; Bozeman, Montana; SF Bay) or remote with manager approval. I can’t promise anything but, unless the job absolutely requires you to be on site, I would expect remote to be approved.

Description: I can only really speak to the security side of things, but we have a lot of positions open for security assurance, architecture, and design.

Compensation: Would depend on position and location and again I can’t promise anything, but at least in my experience it’s slightly above market rate. The health benefits, etc, seem pretty standard.

Location: Remote or in an office, when nearby. US, Canada, Germany, France etc.

Description: Mozilla is a global community of technologists, thinkers and builders working together to keep the internet healthy, safer and accessible — while shipping beloved products to people all over the world.

Tech stack: Various roles, so various tech stacks. Firefox is a C++ project. Other projects are Python, JavaScript, etc.

Compensation: Competitive salary. The careers page has salary ranges.

          Company: AdaCore

          Company site: https://www.adacore.com/company/careers

Position(s): GNU Toolchain Developer, DevSecOps developer, QA Release Engineer, Software Supply Chain Engineer, Product Security Engineer, Cloud Platform Administrator, Lead of Technical Marketing, Technical Account Manager, Service and Mentorship Engineering Lead

Location: Some of these positions are remote, some are in New York/Paris/Toulouse/Grenoble/Vannes/Dresden/Bristol/Tallinn and probably some other cities I can’t think of.

Description: AdaCore’s first product was GNAT, GCC’s Ada frontend. AdaCore has grown a lot since its inception and its ambition is now to become a leading provider of solutions in the safety-critical space. To this end, a lot of tools were built around GNAT: build systems, IDEs, static analyzers, formal proof tooling, LLVM backends for GNAT… Our products are Open Source and we take care to upstream our improvements (for example the recent lobste.rs story about GDB getting support for DAP comes from Tom Tromey’s work, who works at AdaCore), we make money by selling support, trainings, certification and many other services.

Tech stack: Depends on the position, but knowing Ada is not a requirement: AdaCore believes in training its employees when necessary.

Compensation: Depends on the position and location, but if I’m going by my own compensation, AdaCore pays an average salary along with some really nice profit sharing. US employees get benefits equivalent to what can be found in europe (e.g. really good healthcare plans, >25 days of vacation…)

                Company: Funding Circle

                Company site: https://www.fundingcircle.com

Position(s): from mid-level to staff engineer

Location: REMOTE or ONSITE (London), but we can only hire in the UK

Description: we offer loans to small businesses that were especially successful during CBILS, but we’ve launched a bunch of new products since then. I’ve been at FC for just short of two years, on a new product team. I’ve been enjoying it a lot: work-life balance is quite good. I find it fulfilling in that there’s plenty of room to have loads of impact, but we’re big enough that we won’t be asked to work long hours, or anything like that. The domain is interesting, and we’re encouraged to develop deep expertise in it. Buy-in from the business to run crazy tech experiments is present as well.

Tech stack: Clojure, Ruby, Python are the main ones. We use Kafka quite a bit as well. No prior experience on any of these is required from applicants.

Compensation: salary is slightly above median for London. Benefits are quite good: in addition to the standard tech package, we have 25 + Min{tenure in y, 5} days off; a pretty good L&D budget and dedicated time to use it (half a day each week); some fun practices, and a culture that’s light on meetings.
