There’s also a email provider comparison table. I switched to fastmail from gmail a year and a half ago but I never really compared email services. Looking at the table now, it seems like fastmail actually isnt that bad, but it’s definitely not the best.
I’ve a friend who uses ProtonMail and it seems to have a good rating, but I need caldav / cardav support and I dislike the fact that it’s web only. I’m looking at Posteo though, and that seems interesting, green energy, reasonably private, seems secure and not too expensive, has anybody used them before?

posteo is relatively popular in Germany. friends of mine use their service.
From what I’ve seen though they dont allow custom domains, which is a bugger.
