Well he got his money back. I don’t think giving up the chance to report him to the police counts as getting scammed. After all, I don’t think he’s gonna get into much trouble for scamming $500 from some foreign guy on the internet. What’s gonna happen when it goes to court who’s gonna be the witness? Some guy in Austria via skype?
My dad was almost scammed $800 a few years ago, when we reported it to the police, they told us to notify the FBI, and the FBI said they don’t investigate cases under $15,000. From that experience, I don’t think he would have gotten much luck with the authorities.
