The linked-to page is from over a month ago. Am I the only one who missed this? The announcement page at uBlock is being blocked by uBlock Origin, which is very odd.

    Isn’t ublock origin independent from ublock ?

    Aren’t they two vastly different tools ?

      Correct. uBlock Origin is unrelated to ublock.org.

        I just found that uBlock Origin even blocks ublock.org by default ;):

          I noticed that too when clicking on the link. It’s kinda funny. It’s hard to keep everything straight these days, but use, uBlock/AdBlock/AdBlockPlus all are a little shady in how they monetize their development, either by letting it white-list “non-intrusive” ads or by collecting usage data.

          As far as I know, the uBlock Origin project is currently uncompromising in this regard. Still, they all use public and community maintained blacklists/greylists.

      It’s worth to note that it was long ago that uBlock had a commercial owner. Therefore, the recommendation was to use uBlock origin, which was a fork from the original co-author of uBlock. So, as long as you use uBlock origin… Dismiss this story

        If I recall, was it not gorhill who made uBlock, and in an alien event, handed that over to Chris, which in turn made uBlock the monster it is today? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
