I’d like to propose adding a tag for CSS. We already have a javascript tag, it only makes sense to have a css tag as well.

I know this has been brought up before, but I think there are articles where the combination of web and design tags doesn’t quite cut it, for example:

Just adding that I’m in support of this.

After some discussion on #lobsters, it sounds like it may also make sense to divide the design tag into to tags, visual-design and system-design or maybe system-architecture. Right now the design tag’s description is “visual design”, but it is still being used for submissions about compiler design and application architecture.

Also, it’s been suggested that perhaps instead of css the name of the tag should be application-styling to cover the other styling languages like GTK3’s CSS-like styling language.

Do you think it would make more sense to have 3 tags: architecture, design, and styling?

        1. 4

That sounds like a good idea to me, does anyone see any reason not to do this?

          1. 2

How would you define those three tags?

I’m a bit wary of the duplication in something like styling and design.

I’m also wary in having a proposal for an unrelated tag–architecture–bundled in with the other stuff here.

At this point, it’s common knowledge (and in the tag) that design is for visual and UX design, not architecture. (which is sadly spread into other tags) Me and several others have proposed splitting it into design design and UX design, but it never gains traction.

For CSS, web with occasional design is working but not ideal.

Would the three tags that @evaryont suggested work?

I second that, CSS is a widespread technology and it makes sense to create a tag to allow people better searching and filtering
