CoreOS sounds very similar to SmartOS at some layers. I’m not sure how SmartDataCenter stacks up against fleet and etcd. At the OS level, though, I think SmartOS is doing some even better things. Like the OS is all in RAM, so upgrading is just a reboot away. Solaris Zones are also, at this point, a far more secure unit of isolation than containers in Linux.
